The Tyumen-2 is a Russian river-seagoing ship . It became known on April 14, 2011 after a ship accident with two dead.

details

The keel of the ship was laid on August 5, 1988 as hull number 2329 of the Závody ťažkého strojárstva (ZTS) shipyard in Komárno (Slovakia), and the completion followed on March 31, 1989. The ship put into service as Amur-2529 is mainly combined Inland and coastal services deployed in the North and Baltic Seas. Since July 2007 it has been sailing under the current name Tyumen-2 for the Reskom Tyumen shipping company from Tyumen .

The ship is one of a series of river and canal-compatible coasters in the Russian merchant fleet, built in large numbers. The Tyumen-2 is a dry freighter with three holds and a total hold of 4064 cubic meters. 102 TEU containers can be stowed on board. The propulsion of the shallow ships consists of two four-stroke engines that act on fixed propellers via reduction gears. To support the docking and casting off maneuvers, this type of ship has a bow thruster .

Collision on April 14, 2011

On April 14, 2011, the Tyumen-2 was on a journey with wood from Riga to Hull . In the early morning, in heavy fog, the ship collided on the Kiel Canal near the Grünentaler Hochbrücke with the Sietas Type 168 container feeder OOCL Finland, which was sailing from Hamburg to Gdynia . The superstructure of the Tyumen-2 was badly damaged, including the wheelhouse of the Russian freighter almost completely torn away. The 57-year-old pilot and the 43-year-old canal helmsman were killed in the collision , the 45-year-old captain and two other seamen were injured, two of them seriously.

Three subsequent ships, the tankers Clipper Sund , Ruth Theresa and Eships Bainunah steered into the embankment of the canal, or stopped to avoid further collisions. The opponent in the collision, OOCL Finland , was able to drive on to the port of Rendsburg on its own, the Tyumen-2 was first towed to the Weiche Fischerhütte and later to Rendsburg. The demolished bridge house was salvaged from the fairway by the Brunsbüttel company Schramm.

The Tyumen-2 was then repaired in Glückstadt and put back into service on December 5, 2011.
