Ušće ( Cyrillic : Ушће) is a village in western Serbia . The village lies on the banks of the Ibar River , its name means estuary in German .

geography

Ušće is located in the Opština Kraljevo in Okrug Raška . The village, surrounded by forests, is located at the mouth of the Studenica River in the Ibar . The village is also located on the Raduša River . The place is 338 meters above sea level in the central part of the Ibar Valley.

The village has a mild climate due to the surrounding forests and rivers. In contrast to other regions of Serbia , the winters around Ušće are also mild. The mountain ranges of Kopaonik , Željina , Radočela and Stolov , as well as their subordinate smaller mountains, retain a large part of the winds. The warmest winds from the south of Serbia blow around Ušće, as well as the entire Ibar Valley, so that snow does not stay in the place for long.

history

It is not known when the village was founded. In the Serbian Orthodox Studenica Monastery there are records that the monastery bought a vineyard from a resident of Ušće in 1781 .

One of the most important people in the village was the merchant Lazar Prokić from Studenica. He moved to the village in 1882. He built several buildings in the village, such as the first school, which he had built in 1907 and donated to the village. The school is still in operation and in good structural condition.

Since the Studenica Monastery is not far from the village, the most famous and important people from the area around Ušće, members of the Serbian royal dynasty of the Nemanjić , primarily the founder Stefan Nemanjić and his son Rastko, also known as St. Sava of Serbia , most important saint of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

Opština Ušće

Until 1965, the village was the seat of the Opština Ušće. This municipality consisted of the villages: Bare, Bojanići, Borovo, Brezova , Bzovik, Cerje, Dolac, Dražiniće , Đakovo, Gokčanica, Kamenjani, Lozno, Međurečje, Miliće, Mlanča, Orlja Glava, Plana, Polumir, Predole, Reka, Rudno, Rudnjak, Savovo , Tadenje, Tepeče, Ušće, Vrh and Zasad. When the municipality was dissolved, the entire area, the former municipality of Ušće , became part of the municipality of Kraljevo . However, the place got the formal status of a small community.

population

The village is located in the Opština Kraljevo , in the Okrug Raška . Ušće had 2,040 inhabitants at the 2002 census, compared to 1958 in 1991. The majority of the population are Orthodox Serbs and a minority, also Orthodox Montenegrins . In addition, Yugoslavs and Macedonians still live in the village . The village consists of 630 households.

The number of inhabitants around the settlement Ušće increased steadily until the 2000s. In the 1960s Ušće and the surrounding area had 1,600 inhabitants, in the 1980s 1,700, in the 1990s almost 2,000. And around 2002 there were over 4,000 inhabitants in the Ušće area.

This growth is not a reflection of a high birth rate, but the development of several smaller construction projects that had an impact on the population of the surrounding hamlets and so the village merged with the surrounding hamlets.

The town's population has been slowly declining since 2002 because the town's factories went bankrupt due to the poor economic situation. The Ekonom lignite plant and the private company Ekofarm are still in operation . The laminate production factory , the agricultural goods factory and the textile factory were closed. Smaller service companies such as restaurants are increasingly being opened in the village.
