The Frankfurt am Main police headquarters are close to the station .
architecture
On October 4, 1968, the station was opened with the commissioning of the first section of the A-line from the main guard to the north-west town . The subway station itself is kept in the simple style of the 1960s, straight lines and right angles determine the design. Like all the stations in the first construction phase of the Frankfurt U-Bahn, it has two side platforms of medium width, each connected to the distribution level ("B level") via two fixed and one escalator . The station has four exits.
During the construction of this station was as constructed provisions a portion of a planned motorway tunnel at today's A 66 erected ( "Avenue Tunnel"), including underground bus station. This planning was later abandoned, the already built section has served as a pedestrian tunnel ever since.
The station has a peculiarity due to the fact that it was built as the first station. The platform length is the length of a train of four railcars of the rail - prototype of the series U1 which is substantially shorter than the subsequent series , has been dimensioned. This becomes clear in today's operations, as from the U3 series onwards this means that the last door of the train in the tunnel comes to a standstill. An extension of the platform was waived for reasons of cost. Instead, the door in question is electronically locked when such a train pulls into the station.
