UAnimals is a Ukrainian humanist movement that fights for animal rights .
history
The animal welfare initiative was founded in 2016 by social activist Oleksandr Todorchuk . The activity of UAnimals began with a large-scale fight against the exploitation of animals in circuses . The organization succeeded in getting the International Circus Festival in Odessa to renounce the exploitation of animals and to ban mobile circuses with animals in Kiev , Dnipro , Ternopil and other cities. A legal ban is currently being fought across Ukraine.
On October 15, 2017, thanks to the initiative of UAnimals, the Ukrainian March for Animal Rights took place for the first time . The event was held simultaneously in 17 cities of Ukraine, including Kiev, Lviv , Ivano-Frankivsk , Odessa, Dnipro and Mariupol . According to the media, over 5,000 people attended the march in Kiev. In this way, the action became the largest animal welfare event in Eastern Europe . Since then, the march has taken place annually and unites people in all oblast centers of Ukraine, public figures and stars. Many Ukrainian musicians and athletes supported the march: Jamala , ONUKA , Vivienne Mort , Jana Klotschkowa and others. In 2018 , around 700 people took part in Lviv, and around 500 in Dnipro.
Since 2017, the movement has started active propaganda for renouncing fur . As a result of UAnimals' negotiations with Ukrainian clothing brands, several dozen of Ukrainian Fashion Week designers pledged not to use fur in their collections, among which: Andre TAN , BEVZA , ELENAREVA , Ksenia Schnaider , PRZHONSKAYA , Nadya Dzyak , Yana Chervinska and other.
Thanks to the initiative of UAnimals in 2019, Peter Singer's book “ Liberation of Animals ” was published in Ukrainian for the first time , which laid the foundations for worldwide animal welfare.
UAnimals also fights for a ban on dolphinariums and experiments with animals , publishes books and organizes educational events.
