The Unión Deportiva Vecindario was a Spanish football club from the town of Vecindario in the municipality of Santa Lucía de Tirajana on Gran Canaria . The club, founded in 1962, played one season in the second-rate Segunda División .

history

The Unión Deportiva Vecindario was founded in 1962 and played for a long time in lower-class Spanish amateur leagues. In 1990/91 the club took part in the Copa del Rey for the first time. In the 2000/01 season, the surprising jump into the Segunda División B , the third Spanish division, succeeded. Already in the 2005/06 season Vecindario rose to the second highest Spanish football league, the Segunda División , after qualifying in fourth for the play-offs. In the qualifying games, FC Cartagena was eliminated 2: 2/1: 0, before they made the promotion with a 2: 0/2: 1 against Levante B.

On September 3, 2006, Vecindario celebrated the first second division win in its history with a 4-2 win over CD Castellón . At the end of the 2006/07 season , Vecindario rose far behind as bottom of the table after a year.

In August 2015, the association was dissolved due to excessive debts.
