The UFA AG (Union des Fédérations Agricoles), headquartered in Herzogenbuchsee is on animal nutrition specialist Swiss agricultural companies. As a joint venture between Fenaco and LV-St.Gallen, it produces and sells compound feed , mineral salts , milk powder , concentrates and specialties for livestock and hobby animal owners in Switzerland and provides related services. These are sold across Switzerland under the UFA brand via the Landi chain.

history

The company was founded in 1998. UFA has existed as a brand since 1958, when it was used by agricultural cooperative associations as a common umbrella brand for a wide range of activities and products (UFA-Futter, UFA-Revue, UFA Haus und Garten, UFA-Samen, ufamed, UFAG-Laboratorien ...).

While UFAG was founded in Sursee in 1965 for the central production of milk powder , mineral salts and specialties , compound feed production continued to be decentralized in the factories of the individual cooperative associations. Starting in 1989, these plants were gradually merged into the newly founded Orador AG based in Herzogenbuchsee. In 1998 Orador and UFAG merged to form UFA AG. Rivalor AG , based in Puidoux , followed in 2006, and Alpstein-Futter AG from Appenzell in 2008 .

In 2016, UFA had a 37 percent market share in animal feed . From a takeover of Fenaco, poultry and rabbit feed was transferred to UFA on January 1, 2019.

Locations

UFA AG has 4 plants in four different regions - Herzogenbuchsee, Sursee, St. Margrethen and Puidoux. In addition to a mixing plant, Sursee also has a plant for the production of milk powder, which serves all of Switzerland. Herzogenbuchsee has two plants, one of which produces pure organic feed.
