USS Coronado (LCS-4) is a Littoral Combat Ship of the United States Navy and is part of the Independence class at. The ship is a design by the General Dynamics consortium. LCS-4 is the third ship in the United States Navy, which was named after the Californian city of Coronado .

The contract to build the Coronado was awarded to Austal USA in Mobile , Alabama on May 1, 2009 . On 17 December 2009, the keel laying took place, the ship ran on 10 January 2012 by the stack .

USS Coronado was commissioned on January 14, 2012 during a ceremony in Mobile Bay by Susan Keith, daughter of Eleanor Ring, who named the predecessor ship of that name in 1966. The USS Coronado entered service on April 5, 2014 and was stationed in San Diego .
