history

The company was founded in Zemun in 1937 as the glider company Utva-Zemun . It also produced its own gliders. In 1939 the name was changed to Utva-Beograd . In 1941 the company moved to Pančevo and changed its name again, this time to Utva-Pančevo .

After the Second World War , the company was renewed. In addition to gliders, production of the first training aircraft, the Utva Trojka, began in 1946 . This was followed by other training aircraft such as the Utva 213 and Utva Aero 3 or agricultural aircraft such as the Utva 60 and Utva 65 . The company had great success with the Utva 75 school and sports aircraft ; the model became the most widespread sports and touring aircraft in former Yugoslavia and u. a. also exported to the United States .

With the collapse of Yugoslavia, parts of the production of the aircraft manufacturer Soko in Mostar were relocated to Utva, including that of the military training aircraft Super Galeb and Lasta (Soko was a licensee of these models, the developer was the Yugoslav Aeronautical Institute ). In the 1990s, the G4M Super Galeb, the ground combat version of the G4 Super Galeb, appeared, but did not go into series production due to lack of financial resources. The latest model from Utva is the Lasta 3 , from which the company is hoping for an economic upturn.

In addition to aircraft, Utva also produced UAVs such as the Mini UAV Gavran and Medium UAV .
