The Rio Uces is a 50 km long left tributary of the Duero . It rises in the mountains of the province of Salamanca in the region of Castilla-Leon , first flows to the west, then north through the of granite rock influenced Arribes del Duero Natural Park and ends about five kilometers west of Pereña de la Ribera in the Duero.
Tributaries and reservoirs
Apart from a few streams, which often run dry in summer and autumn, the river has no major tributaries. The unregulated and largely natural river is not dammed at any point.
places
The river, named after the hamlet of Las Uces in its headwaters, flows through or touches the following municipalities in the province of Salamanca: Brincones , Sanchón de la Ribera , Valderrodrigo , Villar de Samaniego , Valsalabroso , Cabeza del Caballo , El Milano , La Zarza de Pumareda , Masueco and Pereña de la Ribera .
Attractions
The landscape and places on both sides of the unregulated river offer many attractive aspects that come into their own especially in early spring. The waterfall Pozo de los Humos near the village of Masueco is especially during the snowmelt and after heavy winter rains in January and March a - albeit only a few tourists visited - attraction. The otherwise mostly shallow and rivulet-like river is crossed in several places by primeval looking stone slab bridges and stepping stones (e.g. at the hamlet of Las Uces or at Cabeza del Caballo ).
