Udo-Dieter Wange

Udo-Dieter Wange (born October 31, 1928 in Berlin-Schöneberg ; † February 24, 2005 ) was Minister for District Industry and Food Industry in the GDR .

Life

Wange attended elementary and middle school from 1935 to 1944. In 1944 he was drafted into the Wehrmacht , where he was a top helper in the air force. After the war he was an administrator. Wange joined the KPD in 1945 and became a member of the SED in 1946 after the forced unification of the SPD and KPD . In 1947/48 he was a member of the FDJ district leadership in Berlin-Schöneberg . From 1948 to 1949 he was an employee of the German Economic Commission (DWK) and in 1949/50 he was the main clerk in the Ministry of Internal German Trade. 1950 to 1954 he completed a distance learning course at the German Academy for Political Science and Law in Potsdam, which he graduated with a degree in economics. At the same time, he held various functions in the field of material supply. In 1953, Wange was State Secretary for the administration of the state reserve. Subsequently, until 1955, provisional planning manager at the State Planning Commission (SPK). 1955-1965 he was group leader and deputy chairman of the State contract Court of the GDR, graduated in law and holds a degree lawyer and received his doctorate in 1964 at the Karl-Marx-University of Leipzig Dr. jur. In 1965 he was head of the main department for materials management and foreign trade in the National Economic Council (VWR), in 1966 deputy minister and from 1967 to 1971 state secretary in the ministry for district-controlled industry and food industry. From 1972 to 1974 he was deputy chairman of the State Planning Commission and from 1974 to 1989 Minister for District Industry and Food Industry. From 1974 Wange was head of the GDR delegation in the Standing Commission of the Comecon , from 1976 he was a member of the Economic Commission at the Politburo of the Central Committee of the SED . From 1981 he was a candidate and from 1986 to 1989 a member of the Central Committee of the SED . On December 11, 1989 he was confirmed by the GDR Council of Ministers as chairman of the Central Contracting Court (successor to Manfred Flegel ).

In 1965 he received the Patriotic Order of Merit (VVO) in bronze, 1977 in gold and in 1988 the bar of honor for the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold.
