Udo B. Brack (born August 12, 1941 in Munich , † September 29, 2002 in Berlin ) was a German clinical psychologist .

Career

After attending school in the Allgäu, Brack began studying physics in Vienna , but switched to psychology after completing his intermediate diploma and graduated from Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich in 1969 with a diploma .

In the first two and a half decades of his professional life, Brack worked at the children's center in Munich , for many years as head of the psychological department. His dissertation , submitted to Munich University in 1976 , dealt with language acquisition. He also completed his habilitation in Munich in 1991. Two years later, Brack accepted a professorship for psychological intervention methods at the newly established Institute for Rehabilitation Sciences at the Humboldt University in Berlin , which he held until his death. At the institute he set up a children's clinic visited from all over Germany .

Scientific orientation

Brack was committed to behavior therapy based on learning theory . He advocated that all diagnostic methods and intervention procedures used had to be conceptually clearly founded and scientifically verified in all parts with regard to validity and effectiveness.

Years of work in the interdisciplinary team at the Children's Center predestined him for the interdisciplinary professorship in Berlin. The professorship was geared towards special consideration of the most severe and multiple disabilities, but Brack's scientific work covers a very broad spectrum of different disabilities, including minor developmental disorders.
