Udo Baumbach

Udo Baumbach (born September 24, 1935 in Weberstedt ) is a German museologist , ethnographer , historian and non-fiction author.

Life

Baumbach graduated in 1959 from the college for local museums in Neu-Augustusburg Castle in Weissenfels as a museologist. The title of his thesis was "The socio-economic and cultural development in Plauen / Vogtland in the period from 1850/1900". From 1966, Baumbach completed a distance learning course in ethnography at the Humboldt University in Berlin , which he completed in 1970 as a graduate ethnographer under the supervision of Paul Nedo .

Baumbach took over the management of Rochlitz Castle and the associated museum in 1959 , which he held until 2000. The preservation of Rochlitz Castle in the GDR era is largely thanks to him. In addition, Baumbach volunteered as a district monument curator and district monument curator . In addition to his research and administrative work for Rochlitz Castle, Baumbach campaigned for the preservation of the historic townscape of Rochlitz. He published a large number of essays and several non-fiction books on the regional history of Central Saxony. Udo Baumbach lives in Rochlitz.
