Udo Franken

Udo Franken (* 1951 in Emden , Lower Saxony ) is a German author who mainly publishes in Low German .

Life

Franken grew up in Emden and went to school there. After an apprenticeship as a carpenter , he studied special education via the second educational path . He then worked in various projects in the East Frisian landscape in Aurich . There he worked on the East Frisian dictionary by Jürgen Byl and Elke Brückmann . He was particularly concerned with East Frisian grammar. He was also head of the Low German pilot project at school . Most recently he was a special school teacher in Marienhafe .

Franconia lives in Südbrookmerland in East Frisia and is fully dedicated to maintaining the Low German language. He writes prose , poetry and theater texts in High and Low German, sometimes together with his wife, the author Gitta Franken . With her and Ute de Haan he forms the music group Dreebladd .
