Ugalla is a place in the Mpanda CBD district in the Katavi region in Tanzania , which lies on the western bank of the Mtambo in front of its confluence with the Ugalla . Ugalla is located on the Lujaba wetland that borders the two rivers.

Before the creation of the Katavi region in 2012, the place belonged to the Rukwa region .

Residents

According to the population census from 2012, a total of 8,559 people live in and around Ugalla. The average household size was 5.5 people.

With Ugalla River, Ugalla has a through station on the Kaliua - Mpanda branch line . It runs on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday with a scheduled departure time at 9:01 a.m. in three and a half hours with a stop in Katumba to Mpanda and on Tuesday and Sunday with a scheduled departure time at 0:20 a.m. to Tabora (as of May 2018). From Tabora there are railway lines to Kigoma , Dodoma and Mwanza .

There is also a road connection that leads to Mpanda via Kanoge , as well as another connection to the main road between Mpanda and Uvinza .
