The Ugomgebirge ( Uzbekistan UGOM tizmasi ; Kazakh Өгем ; Russian Угамский хребет ) is a mountain range of the far western Tienschan .
It stretches for 100 km in NE-SW direction along the border between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan . The Ugom Mountains form a southwestern continuation of the Talas-Alatau . It reaches a maximum height of 4238 m . The mountain range runs between the river valleys of Piskom (in the east) and Ugom (in the west). The mountain range consists of granite and limestone . There are karst and granite intrusions in places . Ephemeral and subtropical steppe vegetation predominantly grow on the mountain slopes . Deciduous forests grow in valleys. In the high mountains, alpine meadow steppe is predominant.
