Ukyō Sasahara
Ukyō Sasahara ( Japanese 笹 原 右 京 , Sasahara Ukyō ; * April 24, 1996 ) is a Japanese automobile racing driver .
Career
Sasahara began his motorsport career in karting in 2003 , where he remained active until 2012. He won several Rotax Max junior championships and in 2012 was senior kart champion of the Eastern European Rotax Max Challenge . In 2013 Sasahara switched to formula racing and started for Euronova Racing in the Alpine Formula Renault . With a sixth place as the best result, he finished the season in 13th place overall. He also made several guest starts in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup .
In 2014 Sasahara stayed with Euronova and drove in the Northern European Formula Renault . With a second place as the best result, he was sixth overall. He also started at an event of the Italian Formula 4 championship and won a race. The engagement came about because the regular driver Andrea Fontana was canceled due to illness. In 2015 Sasahara switched to the ART Junior Team within the Northern European Formula Renault . He won two races and was on the podium a total of eight times. In the drivers' standings, he improved to third place. He also drove for the ART Junior Team in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup. Here he reached seventh place overall with a win.
In 2016 , Sasahara was without a firm commitment in formula racing. For Threebond with T-Sport he completed two events in the European Formula 3 championship . His main focus this year was kart racing.
