Ulf Axén

Ulf Ivar Axén (born December 14, 1932 in Hudiksvall , Sweden ; † November 30, 2015 in Palma de Mallorca , Mallorca , Spain ) was a Swedish film architect .

Life

Axén received his artistic training at the Valand Art School in Gothenburg and with Lester Polakov at New York's New York Studio and Forum of Stage Design . At the age of almost 32 he joined the cinema as a production designer. Axén has outfitted a number of key films in the new Swedish cinema, including Tage Danielsson's production of Apple War and Bo Widerberg's Joe Hill . Axén also designed the film structures for productions by other important filmmakers in his country, including several times Jan Troell , his three-hour television film about a North Pole expedition, The Flight of the Eagle Axén on Svalbardalso supplied with buildings. In 1997 Ulf Axén was an unspecified employee at Troell's Swedish-Norwegian documentary En frusen dröm . Then he retired into private life and lived most of the last 20 years of his life on Mallorca. Only in summer did Ulf Axén teach back to Sweden and spend the time on his Oxelösund barge “Ninka”. Axén was married to the costume designer Gunila Axén.
