Uli Gutscher

Ulrich "Uli" Gutscher (born March 4, 1955 in Markgröningen ) is a German musician (trombonist, pianist) of modern jazz .

Career

Gutscher studied classical music with a major in piano at the Stuttgart University of Music from 1976 to 1982 . Even at this time he worked in the Big Band of Erwin Lehn ; later he also worked for Paul Kuhn . He also played with musicians such as Bobby Burgess , the fusion band RE (1985), Charly Antolini ("Wow", 1987), Frédéric Rabold , Joe Gallardo , Bernd Konrad , Dusko Goykovich , Chaka Khan and Hermann Breuer . He leads his own quartet or quintet and has made guest appearances at the festivals in Murcia, Vienna, Paris and Burghausen . He is also active in a duo with guitarist Werner Acker . He also works as a trombonist with the Stuttgart Salonikern .

Since 1983 Gutscher has been director of the jazz and popular music course for school musicians at the Stuttgart University of Music. As a lecturer for jazz trombone, piano and harmony , he has also been active in the diploma course there since 1987. He is also a lecturer at the Baden-Württemberg State Youth Jazz Orchestra.
