Tilman Hunter
Tilman Jäger (born November 29, 1961 in Stuttgart ) is a German jazz pianist, composer, music teacher and conductor.
Live and act
Musical education
Tilman Jäger grew up in Kernen in the Rems Valley and graduated from the Friedrich-Schiller-Gymnasium Fellbach in 1981 . From 1982 to 1989 he studied school music and jazz at the Musikhochschule in Stuttgart . Since then he has worked as a pianist, studio musician, choir director and big band leader, as well as arranger and composer .
AEG big band
From 1991 on he was a music teacher at the Albert Einstein High School (AEG) in Böblingen, where he found a Dixieland band, which he expanded into a complete big band . He ran this until 2004 when he left school. The AEG big band won several awards under his leadership:
- 1993: 1st prize at Jugend jazzt
- 2000: 1st prize in the German orchestra competition in the field of jazz orchestra
The big band undertook several tours at home and abroad, two tours to the USA in 1994 and 1997, to Singapore , Kuala Lumpur and Thailand in 1999 , to Paraguay and Brazil in 2002. She produced five CDs under his direction.

Tilman Jäger was or is a pianist in various ensembles:
- Spiritual Jazz , Duo together with Uli Gutscher (trombone)
- Wing beats , duo together with Andi Witte (drums)
- Tape 4 , jazz quartet together with Ekkehard Rössle ( saxophone ), Paul Müller, (bass) and Andi Witte ( drums ).
- Tango plot , with Michael Schwarz (violin), Paul Müller (double bass), Andrej Mouline ( bayan )
- Uli Gutscher Quintet , with Uli Gutscher (trombone), Werner Acker (guitar), Thomas Krisch (double bass), Herbert Wachter (drums)
He played with Jiggs Whigham , Peter Fessler , Dino Saluzzi and Joo Kraus .
Conductor and choirmaster
From 1999 to 2004 he was the jazz representative of the Ministry of Culture in Baden-Württemberg and founded the Stuttgart Student Jazz Festival, which has been held annually at the Stuttgart University of Music since then. As a jazz representative, he founded the state teacher big band in 2001, which he has been leading ever since. Klaus-Dieter Mayer acts as manager and singer for the band.
From 2000 to 2005, Jäger headed the Böblinger Kantorei under the umbrella of the Evangelical Church Community of Böblingen. Since 2001 he has been the musical director of JazzTime Böblingen .
In 2006 he put together the Böblinger Vocal Ensemble , which developed from a project to record a CD and which he has been leading ever since.
University professor
From 1988 to 1989 Jäger was a jazz piano teacher at the Stuttgart University of Music. From 1997 to 2001 he was a lecturer for practical piano playing at the Trossingen University of Music .
Since 2004 he has been professor for practical piano playing at the University of Music and Theater in Munich . From 2006 to 2013 he founded and directed the salsa band of the music college. In 2013 he took over the leadership of the big band for student teachers.
Personal
Tilman Jäger lives in Munich, is married to Eva Maria Jäger and has one son. In 2016 he won the contemporary sacred music composition competition as part of the European Church Music Festival in Schwäbisch Gmünd .
