The Ulja ( Russian Улья ) is a river in the Khabarovsk region in the Far East of Russia . The Russian explorer Ivan Jurjewitsch Moskwitin sailed the river in the 17th century.
River course
The Ulja has its origin in the Jugdschur Mountains . From there it flows in a northeasterly direction through the mountains. It is flanked by the Jugdschur Mountains and the Ulja Mountains. Shortly before the estuary, it turns east-southeast and after 325 km it reaches the Sea of Okhotsk .
Hydrology
The Ulja catchment area covers 15,500 km². The mean discharge is 170 m³ / s. The river is fed by snowmelt and precipitation. The river is ice-covered between late October and May.
Fish fauna
Various salmon fish spawn in the river . Other fish in the river system are u. a. Grayling , the genus Brachymystax and Taimen .
