Ulloriannguaq Paavia Heilmann Kristiansen [ ˌuɬːɔʁiaŋːuɑq Pavia hai̯lmæn kʁesdi̯ænsn̩ ] (the old spelling Uvdloriánguaĸ Pavia Hejlmann Kristiansen * 6. September 1927 in Arsuk ; † 12. July 1998 ) was a Greenlandic journalist , writer , translator and editor .

Life

Ulloriannguaq Kristiansen was the son of the catechist and regional councilor Abel Jens Kristian Kristiansen (1900–1975) and his wife Dorthe Bolette Johanne Heilmann (1901–?), A sister of the catechist Karl Heilmann (1914–1998). On December 26, 1953, he married Henriette “Jatti” Benedict Sofie Louise Lynge (1928–?), Daughter of Pastor Telef Lars Benediktus Jørgen Lynge (1904–?) And his wife Juliane Ketura Augusta Motzfeldt (1905–?), Daughter of Hans Motzfeldt (1881-1921). Her uncle was therefore Lars Motzfeldt (1908–1987).

Ulloriannguaq Kristiansen attended Grønland's seminarium from 1942 to 1947 . He then trained as a journalist in Greenland and Denmark until 1952. With a break from 1957 to 1961, which he used for further training in Denmark, he was employed by Grønlands Radio from 1952 . From 1952 to 1957 he was also a newspaper journalist for Atuagagdliutit .

From 1946 to 1947 he was chairman of the student council of the seminary. From 1956 to 1957 he was chairman of Grønlands Idrætsforbund . From 1971 to 1983 he was a member of the Nuuk Municipality Council , temporarily serving as the Second Vice Mayor. He was also chairman of KANUKOKA from 1979 to 1983, chairman of the Greenland Information Association from 1972 to 1976, chairman of the Greenland writers' association from 1984 to 1987 and chairman of the Greenland Museum Council from 1983. In 1987 he became State Secretary at the Greenland Blue Cross .

In addition to his work as a journalist, Ulloriannguaq Kristiansen also worked as a writer, translator and editor. He was editor of the youth newspaper Inûsugtoĸ , the cultural newspaper Univkât , the sports newspaper Timerssorneĸ and the school newspaper Pisigseĸ . In addition to his books, he wrote other short stories and poems for newspapers and magazines.

Ulloriannguaq Kristiansen was awarded the Greenland Culture Prize in 1997 . He died a year later at the age of 70.
