Hans Motzfeldt

Hans Lars Hendrik Motzfeldt (born October 17, 1881 in Saarloq ; † May 9, 1921 in Paamiut ) was a Greenlandic catechist and councilor .

Hans Motzfeldt was the son of the catechist Edvard Frederik Lars Josva Julius Motzfeldt and his wife Antoinette Ingeborg Marie Caritas Chemnitz from Nanortalik. His mother was a sister of Jens Chemnitz (1853–1929). From 1897 to 1903 he was trained at Grønland's seminarium . He then worked as a catechist in various places. During his time in Qeqertarsuatsiaat he was a member of the first South Greenland State Council from 1911 to 1916 . Most recently he was the head catechist in Paamiut. He died in 1921 at the age of 39. His son Lars Motzfeldt (1908–1987) and his son-in-law Klaus Lynge (1902–1981) later also sat on the regional council.
