Ulrich Deupmann

Ulrich Deupmann (* 1965 ) is a German journalist , book author and political PR and communications consultant.

Live and act

Deupmann studied politics, history and journalism in Münster, Munich and Madrid. From 1990 he worked as a parliamentary correspondent in Berlin and Bonn for the Süddeutsche Zeitung . In 1995 he was awarded the Theodor Wolff Prize for his journalistic work . In 1996 he moved to the Berliner Zeitung as head of the capital city office . In 2000 he became deputy head of the capital city office at Spiegel . In 2003 Deupmann became head of the capital city office of Bild am Sonntag .

In 2005 his book The Power of Children on Family, Education and Population Policy was published. The book was reviewed in the taz as a “clever, informative and also well-written book”, while the FAZ praised the analysis on the one hand, but criticized the book's unification tendencies.

From 2006 to 2009 Deupmann worked as a speechwriter and advisor for the then Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier . The Süddeutsche Zeitung described him as "one of the most important spin doctors in Steinmeier's environment". Deupmann also counts the magazine Cicero among Steinmeier's close confidants.

In 2012 he joined the international strategy and communication consultancy Brunswick Group and took over the management of its Berlin representative office.

Deupmann lives in partnership with the SPD politician Klara Geywitz . They have three school-age children, a daughter and twin sons. The children were baptized by Steffen Reiche , who is also the godfather of the youngest son.

Deupmann is a member of the circle of friends of the Berlin think tank Das Progressive Zentrum and writes articles for this think tank .
