Ulrich Fischer (politician, 1889)

Ulrich Fischer (born June 6, 1889 in Fürth ; † May 3, 1950 in Stuttgart-Hedelfingen) was a German trade unionist and social democratic politician of the SPD and the USPD . From November 16, 1918 to January 14, 1919 he was Württemberg Minister of War in the Blos cabinet .

Life

Ulrich Fischer was initially a businessman . He had been a member of the SPD since the beginning of 1907 and was involved in the years before the First World War as a union secretary at the Central Association of German Sales Aids . With the beginning of the war he became a soldier and was wounded three times. His last rank was that of a vice sergeant. On November 9, 1918, Fischer became deputy chairman of the soldiers' council in Stuttgart as a representative of the USPD . On November 15, he succeeded Albert Schreiner at the head of the Württemberg War Ministry . At the same time, he was a member of the Württemberg state committee of soldiers' councils from November 17 to December 12, 1918. On January 10, 1919, together with Arthur Crispien, he was forced to leave the provisional Württemberg government, as it suppressed the Spartacus uprising in Stuttgart with armed force. Since then, Ulrich Fischer has been working in the union again.
