Ulrich Gansert

Ulrich Gansert (born November 19, 1942 in Breslau ) is an Austrian painter and object artist .

Life

Gansert was born in Breslau and grew up in Treuenbrietzen . From 1967 to 1969 he studied at the Cologne factory schools , then until 1972 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Rudolf Hausner . In 1971 he was a founding member of the artist group Zoetus with Gottfried Helnwein , with whom he studied under Hausner in Vienna . In 1973 he joined the artist group Der Kreis . In 1973/1974 he was a guest lecturer at the University of Kassel , in 1974 he took on a teaching position at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, where he was assistant professor from 1988 to 2004.

Artistic work

Ulrich Gansert's work ranges from painting - his original means of artistic expression - through photography to sculptures and object installations . One of his objects can be found in public space in Scheiblingkirchen-Thernberg (Lower Austria). His portrait of the legal scholar and Austrian constitutional lawyer Hans Kelsen was exhibited in 1997 in the meeting room of the Constitutional Subcommittee of the Austrian Parliament . It is now in the plenary hall of the National Council .
