Ulrich Guhl

Ulrich Guhl (born July 27, 1838 in Steckborn , † November 11, 1924 in Frauenfeld , entitled to reside in Steckborn and Frauenfeld) was a Swiss Reformed pastor and politician (FDP) .

biography

Ulrich Guhl was born in Steckborn on July 27, 1838, the son of the town sexton Ulrich Guhl senior. Guhl studied theology in Zurich and Heidelberg from 1858 to 1861 . After his ordination in 1861, Ulrich Guhl worked as a pastor in Berlingen until 1865 , and from 1865 to 1869 in Märstetten , where he was a pastor.

After giving up the pastor's profession because of a larynx disease, Guhl was employed as a Thurgau state clerk until 1877 . A year later, Guhl, a member of the FDP, was elected to the Thurgau Great Council , to which he belonged until 1917. In 1880 he was a member of the Thurgau Central Committee against another federal reform. In addition, he was a member of the Protestant Church Council of the Canton of Thurgau from 1874 to 1918 , of which he was President from 1902 . Furthermore, Guhl worked from 1878 to 1909 as editor of the "Thurgauer Zeitung" .

In addition, Guhl founded and chaired the Thurgau Association for Church Progress for over 25 years . Furthermore, Guhl was President of the Frauenfeld Hospital Commission from 1898 to 1923. Ulrich Guhl, who married Karolina Wilhelmine, the daughter of Hans Heinrich Stapfer, in 1863, died on November 11, 1924 at the age of 86 in Frauenfeld.
