Ulrich Kaiser (conductor)

Ulrich Kaiser (born June 25, 1973 in Dresden ) is a German choir director , conductor and church musician . He was artistic director of the MDR children's choir and the Leipzig vocal ensemble .

Career

Ulrich Kaiser began his musical career as a member of the Dresden Kreuzchor . At the age of 13 he learned to conduct and two years later became assistant to the Kreuzkantor . After reunification he went to Bavaria to join the Windsbach boys' choir . There he founded a children's choir , which he led, as well as a local church choir . He also worked with the Windsbachers themselves and formed a male vocal ensemble with their male voices ; he also founded a chamber orchestra .

His music studies then took him to Berlin at the University of the Arts . Here he founded the Amadeus Choir and the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra. In 2003 he became director of the New Boys Choir Hamburg . He sang under his direction in the plenary hall of the German Bundestag and - at the invitation of Pope Benedict XVI. - in St. Peter's Basilica . In 2011 he resigned from his position in Hamburg and took over the management of the MDR Children's Choir in Leipzig. He led this until 2017. In addition, since 2012 he has led the Leipzig Vocal Ensemble . Since 2018 he has been leading the Bremen boys' choir Unser Lieben Frauen .

Ulrich Kaiser acted as a teacher for singing and music theory at various universities and colleges. In 2008 he passed his exam as a church musician , a full-time job. He also worked as a lecturer for children's choir conducting.
