Ulrich Meyer (Abbot)
Ulrich Meyer SOCist (born January 21, 1647 in Mellingen ; † June 9, 1694 in Wettingen ) was a Swiss Cistercian and abbot of the Wettingen monastery .
Life
Ulrich Meyer, son of the ministerial councilor Nikolaus Meyer, made his religious vows in the Wettingen monastery in 1666 and was ordained a priest in Constance in 1671 . After he had held various offices in the monastery, u. a. if he had taught at the home school, he was elected prior in 1683 and abbot in 1686. He stayed in this office for eight years. During this time he had the works "Geometric floor plan of all brands of the court glory deß Gottshaus Wettingen" (1683) and "Archiv Dess Hochloblichen Gottshaus Wettingen" (1684) printed in the monastery printing house, the latter containing around 1000 certificates and other documents. The reason for both works was probably disputes over rights and court rights with the city of Baden and the Einsiedeln monastery .
