Ulrich Schiefer (doctor)

Ulrich Schiefer (born September 15, 1957 in Dortmund ) is a German ophthalmologist ( neuroophthalmologist ), university professor for ophthalmology at the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen and head of the Sehbahn working group at the Research Institute for Ophthalmology at the University Eye Clinic Tübingen .

biography

After graduating from the Max Planck Gymnasium in Düsseldorf in 1976 , Ulrich Schiefer studied human medicine at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf . In 1984 he was at the Institute of Experimental Surgery at the University of Dusseldorf in Gunter Arnold a kardiophysiologisches subject with a grade of summa cum laude doctorate . His doctoral thesis was named the best dissertation of the year .

In 1986 he was licensed to practice medicine , two years later he was recognized as a specialist (ophthalmologist). In 1993 Ulrich Schiefer received his habilitation on the subject of noise field campimetry - a new method for the detection of visual path lesions . In 1999 he was appointed adjunct professor for ophthalmology at the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen.

In 2001 he was also visiting professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis .

In 2002, Ulrich Schiefer received the state teaching award, endowed with 10,250 euros, for the development of the Tuebingen Education System (TES) from the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and Art .

Ulrich Schiefer is married and has three grown daughters.
