Ulrich Schrade

Ulrich Schrade (born July 21, 1943 in Patricken , Allenstein district , Warmia ; † November 15, 2009 in Warsaw , Poland) was a philosopher of German descent, educationalist and ethicist living in Poland .

Life

From 1961–1966 he studied with Boleslaw Kasprowicz at the Faculty of Transport Economics in Sopot (today Sopot, Poland); in the years 1966–1969 he worked on the development of the Stomil Olsztyn tire plant in Olsztyn ; from 1969–1974 he studied philosophy with Bogusław Wolniewicz at the University of Warsaw .

From 1974 he worked at the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences of the Warsaw University of Technology. At this university he is considered to be the founder of a special current in the philosophy of science and technology and the theory of higher education. Until recently he held the following positions:

  • Head of the Philosophy Department
  • Head of the educational seminar
  • Head of the postgraduate course in pedagogy at the Technical University of Warsaw.

He was a member of the Disciplinary Committee of the Higher Education Council and a board member of the Polish Society of Philosophy.

The core of his scientific interests were the general problems of anthropology , axiology and pedagogy . He was a professor at the Warsaw University of Technology and was also a visiting professor at the Humanistic Academy in Pułtusk .

Schrade was buried in the community cemetery in Klebark Wielki.
