Ulrich Wagner (engineer)

Ulrich Wagner (* 1955 in Passau ) is a German scientist specializing in the energy industry . He is currently a full professor at the chair for energy economics and application technology at the Technical University of Munich.

Education and professional career

Since Ulrich Wagner's parents were active in the diplomatic service, he attended schools in Bonn , Moscow , Antwerp , Brussels and Bogotá . He then studied electrical engineering from 1976 to 1981 in Bogotá and at the Technical University (TU) in Munich . He did his doctorate at the Technical University of Munich with the thesis Energy yield of traction batteries .

From 1987 to 1995 he was managing director of the Research Center for Energy Economics. Since 1995 Wagner has been the scientific director of this organization. In addition, from 1988 to 1995 he was a lecturer at the Technical University of Munich in the areas of “load optimization and energy storage” and “electric road traffic”. Since 1995 he has been a full professor at the chair for energy management and application technology at the Technical University of Munich. From 2010 to 2015 he was on leave and worked as a director for energy and transport at the German Aerospace Center .
