Ulrich Zafoschnig

Ulrich Zafoschnig (born November 12, 1966 in Klagenfurt ) is an Austrian lawyer and politician ( ÖVP ). From April 12, 2018, he was regional councilor in the Carinthian regional government of Kaiser II .

Life

After primary school in Klagenfurt- Waidmannsdorf, Ulrich Zafoschnig attended the modern language grammar school in Klagenfurt. After graduating from high school in 1985 and doing military service , he began studying law at the University of Graz in 1986 , completing his degree in 1992 with a master's degree on the relationships between social insurance institutions and their contractual partners. He then worked as a legal intern at the Klagenfurt Regional and District Court and as a trainee lawyer, and passed the bar exam in 1996. After that he was employed at the office of the Carinthian provincial government .

From 1997 to 2009 he held various management positions at Raiffeisen -Landesbank Kärnten and then until 2012 at the Carinthian Chamber of Commerce . In 2012 he was appointed to the board of the Kärntner Landesholding. As a member of the Board of Directors of the Carinthian Compensation Payment Fund, he was involved in processing the liabilities for Hypo Alpe Adria .

He was chairman of the supervisory board of the Land Kärnten Beteiligungen GmbH (LKBG) and is president of the Carinthian Sports Union , auditor of the ÖOC and Österreichischen Sporthilfe and chairman of the legal commission of the Federal Sports Organization (BSO).

Zafoschnig leads a community. He is the father of a son.

politics

In the 2017 National Council election , he ran for the Kurz list on the federal list and eighth on the Carinthian state list. As of April 12, 2018, he was regional councilor in the state government of Kaiser II , responsible for the areas of economy (trade and export law), industry, tourism and tourism investments, tourism infrastructure, building law, building regulations, plant law (EIA).

On April 15, 2019, his resignation as member of the state council for health reasons became known. Sebastian Schuschnig was nominated as his successor by the executive committee of the ÖVP Carinthia , who was elected and sworn in the state parliament on May 9, 2019.
