Ulrich von Württemberg (* in the 13th century ; † March 8, 1348 in Speyer ) was a count of Württemberg and canon in Speyer and provost of three priests.

family

He came from the noble family of Württemberger and was born as the illegitimate son of the ruling Count Eberhard I , whose mother Agnes von Schlesien-Liegnitz was the great-granddaughter of St. Hedwig von Andechs . His half-brother Ulrich III. ruled the county of Württemberg as successor to his father .

Life

Ulrich von Württemberg, also called Ulrich der Kirchherr or Ulrich von Höfingen , became a clergyman and appears in a document as early as 1323 as a canon in Speyer, on June 2, 1332 as the Speyer cathedral capitular and provost of St. Cyriakus in Bad Boll . On September 1st of that year he was unanimously elected provost of the St. Martinsstift in Sindelfingen , in 1334 he also held this office at the St. Guido Monastery in Speyer . On November 23, 1347 he is named as cantor of the Speyer Cathedral . As a reward for his loyal service to the diocese of Speyer , Bishop Gerhard von Ehrenberg, as feudal lord, confirmed to him on February 21, 1337 the lifelong possession of Grombach and Grombach Castle .

The count died on March 8, 1348 in Speyer and is recorded on this day with a memorial for the year in the cathedral 's younger Seelbuch .
