Ulrike Gerold (born February 23, 1956 in Peine ) is a German writer .

Life

Ulrike Gerold studied German , theater studies and art history at the Free University of Berlin ; she completed this course with a master's degree . She then worked as a dramaturge at various stages (including the Landesbühne Hannover, Stadttheater Hildesheim, theaterwerkstatt hannover). From 1993 she contributed as a freelance journalist to various magazines (including Geo , FAZ-Magazin and Mare ). Since 1997 she has been writing narrative works and non-fiction books for children and young people as a freelance writer , mostly together with her partner Wolfram Hänel , with whom she lives in Hanover . In 2003 Ulrike Gerold and Wolfram Hänel received the Friedrich Gerstäcker Prize for their novel Irgendwo elsewhere .
