Ulrike Kaiser (journalist)

Ulrike Kaiser (born April 8, 1952 in Remscheid ) is a German media journalist and trade unionist. She was editor-in-chief of the journalist magazine .

Life

Ulrike Kaiser was born in Remscheid. From 1970 she completed a traineeship at the Rheinische Post and worked there as an editor until 1976. She then studied pedagogy, sociology and psychology at Bielefeld University .

She completed her studies in 1980 as a qualified teacher. In 1981 she became a consultant at the German Institute for Journalistic Education, Haus Busch . In 1985 she took over the editorial management of the journalist magazine , the members' magazine of the German Association of Journalists . Since 2006 she has been a member of the media commission of the State Media Authority in North Rhine-Westphalia . In 2007 she left the journalist editorial team and has been working as a freelance journalist ever since. In November 2007 she was elected Deputy Federal Chairwoman of the German Association of Journalists. In 2015 she no longer ran for election. Kathrin Konyen now holds her post.

Ulrike Kaiser is married to the former WDR editor Lothar Kaiser (* 1947) and lives in Remscheid. Together with her husband, she founded the Lothar and Ulrike Kaiser Foundation, which promotes education and upbringing in Germany and supports youth welfare, culture, sport and people in need in Remscheid.
