Ulrike Tappeiner

Ulrike Tappeiner (* 1959 in Bozen ) is an Italian biologist from South Tyrol .

biography

Tappeiner studied biology and computer science at the University of Innsbruck . In 1985 she obtained her doctorate with a dissertation on plant ecology . As a result, she worked as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Botany of their alma mater before in 1996 with a study of mountain ecosystems habilitated . Since 1995 she has headed the Institute for Alpine Environment at Eurac Research . At the same time, she worked as an Associate Professor at the Institute of Botany from 1996, and since 2005 as a University Professor for Ecosystem Research and Landscape Ecology at the Institute for Ecology at the University of Innsbruck. From 2012 to 2018 she was also dean of the Faculty of Biology. In 2018 she was elected President of the Free University of Bolzano .
