The ultralight airfield Sauldorf-Boll , since 2007 Rudi-Rebholz airfield , is an ultralight airfield near Boll , a district of the municipality of Sauldorf in the Baden-Württemberg district of Sigmaringen in Germany .

The space is used by ultralight aircraft , paramotor gliders and model pilots.

Surname

The area is named after the Boller Rudi Rebholz, who, against all kinds of resistance and as an enthusiastic glider pilot , obtained a corresponding flight permit in his hometown for an area that was in the immediate area of influence of the military control zone of the Army Aviation Airfield in Neuhausen ob Eck .

history

The place received its approval on July 3, 1984. An operational agreement with the military airfield was permanently required. The German Ultralight Aviation Club, or DULFc eV, founded in Frankfurt, has been based in Boll since 1986. Originally the planes were housed in a tent, later a stable sheet metal shed was built.

The regional council approved an extension in 1994 with a slight shift in the landing directions. As part of a land consolidation, the Sauldorf municipality and the land consolidation authority wanted to change the landing directions again in 2002. The aim was to keep the “Mühlacker” and “Hallmannswiesen” tubs later for village development and building. In 2007, citizens of the neighboring town of Bietingen appealed to the Sigmaringen administrative court .

In 2009, the German Ultralight Aviation Club worked together to create a modified and extended runway runway. The ground of the new slope area was worked through with a mine detector in test work and could thus be better leveled by further use of machines. Then a special sowing took place. After a traffic pattern, the new runway was inaugurated and put into operation on May 23, 2010.

The change resulted in certain safety advantages, the runway was extended to 520 meters and runs unobstructed in the approach and departure area. The advantages outweigh the disadvantages that have arisen because the space has moved away from the hangars and the previous infrastructure of the space in a north-westerly direction. The track is only 20 meters wide, but has a safety strip of 15 meters on both sides. Plans are in progress to raise the existing tower or to relocate it immediately.

Traditionally over the Whitsun holidays, the German Ultralight Aviation Club celebrates an open day with the Boller airfield meeting .

Facilities

Ikarus C42 on the runway

Next to the tower there are two hangars on the square. The club machine is an ultra-light aircraft of the Sky-Ranger type and is used by the club's own flight school .

The owner and placeholder is Otmar Rebholz.
