The Best Off Skyranger is an ultralight aircraft from the French manufacturer Best Off Aircraft .
history
The Best Off Skyranger was designed by French designer Philippe Prevot in Toulouse in the 1990s . Between 1994 and 1998 about 200 copies of this aircraft were manufactured under license by the Synairgie company . Today the aircraft, which is sold as a kit, is sold by the manufacturer Best Off, with the parts being mainly built by the Ukrainian company AEROS. Today it is produced in the versions Swift, V Max and V Fun, which differ, among other things, in the wingspan of the wings and the engine.
Later series of the aircraft have an enlarged rudder and an additional stabilizing fin under the fuselage. The latest version of the Skyranger, the Nynja, features a number of aerodynamic refinements, a modernized cockpit and rounded plastic panels in the fuselage area.
Both Skyranger and Nynja are manufactured under license in Brazil by Aerobravo Indústria Aeronáutica Ltda . In addition, Skyranger are manufactured under license by SkyRanger Aircraft in the USA (as kits), Eros Ltd in the Ukraine and around 150 copies by Synairgiein in France .
construction
The Best Off Skyranger is a high- wing aircraft with a fuselage that has a rectangular cross-section and is designed in tubular space. Almost exclusively straight aluminum tubes made of alloys 2017T3 and 2024T3 are used for the construction, which are mounted using secured screw connections. This construction method achieves reproducible manufacturing quality even under the conditions of amateur construction. The fabric covering consists of Dacron or optionally X-LAM. The fabric is pre-sewn by the manufacturer and is assembled and tensioned after the tubular structure has been completed.
The wing consists of a tubular lattice frame. The wing profile is produced by means of shaped battens that are inserted into fabric pockets in the covering. The properties of this profile, which is unusual for three-axis controlled aircraft, were measured in a wind tunnel in Toulouse in 1994 . The wings can optionally be folded in for space-saving hangaring . The tail units are not profiled and braced with steel cables. The oars are not balanced and are operated by cables . The ailerons are differentiated. A joystick mounted between the two seats is used for control.
The aircraft has landing flaps that can be manually adjusted to 3 positions (0 °, 10 ° and 20 °). Depending on the version, a Rotax 503 , Rotax 582 , Rotax 912 or Jabiru 80cv is used as a drive , although not all of these engines are also approved in Germany. The Skyranger is approved for towing gliders or banners.
