The Ulugh Muztagh (also called Ulug Muztag ) is a 6973 m high mountain of the Kunlun in the People's Republic of China .
It is located on the elongated border between Xinjiang in the north and Tibet (with Nyima district there ) in the south in the central part of the Arkatag (also Arkha Tagh; outdated: Prschewalski Mountains ), the central part of the Kunlun mountains .
The mountain height is recorded in older maps as 7723, 7724 or even 7754 m . It was not until 1985 that the correct height - 750 to 781 m lower - was determined when the mountain was first climbed.
Ascent history
The first ascent of Ulugh Muztagh was achieved on October 21, 1985 by an American-Chinese expedition. The first to climb were Hu Fengling, Zhang Baohua, Ardaxi, Mamuti and Wu Qiangxing.
