Umberto Montefiori (born December 3, 1946 in Vezzano Ligure , Liguria , † December 9, 2019 ) was an Italian politician ( Lega Nord , Italia Federale , Rinnovamento Italiano ).

biography

Mentefiori attended the Liceo classico “Marco Polo” in Venice and then studied law ( laurea in giurisprudenza ) at the University of Turin . In 1970 he came to Meran in South Tyrol as a carabiniere , which subsequently became the center of his life. In 1990 he left his Carabinieri unit with the rank of major. In the 1993 elections, Montefiori successfully ran as a representative of the Lega Nord for the South Tyrolean state parliament and, at the same time, the regional council of Trentino-South Tyrol . In the course of the following legislative period, he first moved to the newly founded party Italia Federale , to finally join the Rinnovamento Italiano . From 1996 to 1998 he was President of the State Parliament. After the end of his political career in South Tyrol, Montefiori was still active in the municipal council of his home municipality Vezzano Ligure.
