Umberto Romano (born January 6, 1973 ) is a former Swiss - Italian football player and today's coach.

Career

player

Romano began his career at FC Zurich, for which he played three times in the 1991/92 season, then he played in Wettingen and returned to Zurich to play three times for the club again. He then played with St. Gallen, Baden, Locarno, Winterthur and Delémont. He then played at FC Wil with whom he was promoted to the then NLA and contributed two goals to the highest- scoring game in the top Swiss league . Then played at Malcantone Agno. After all, played a total of five seasons at FC Winterthur, where, among other things, he was captain. In 2009 he moved to FC Linth 04, then played one more season at FC Küsnacht and ended his active career.

Trainer

Romano began his coaching career as a player coach at FC Linth 04 and FC Küsnacht. After Romano was last assistant coach in Wohlen under Ciriaco Sforza , he moved to FC Winterthur in the youth department, then became ad interim coach at FC Winterthur. He took over the coaching position in Winterthur again in 2017 for 10 months. He has been an assistant trainer at Lausanne-Sport since 2018.
