The Mzingwane (formerly Umzingwani or Umzingwane ) is a tributary of the Limpopo in Matabeleland (mainly South Matabeleland Province ) in Zimbabwe .
course
The river has its source in Matobo National Park south of Bulawayo , is dammed by a dam at Esigodini in the Umzingwane district (built in 1958, capacity 57 million cubic meters), turns south, flows through West Nicholson and flows into Limpopo at Beitbridge .
Hydrometry
In fact, it drains an area of 15,700 square kilometers. This is relative. There are longer periods of no rainfall, so the river carries little or no water during the dry season.
ecology
Wild settlers wash gold in the river , often using the amalgam process . In the vicinity of such places all trees are usually cut down and the water is polluted with mercury .
