Beitbridge is a border town in the province of Matabeleland South in Zimbabwe .

It was created when the Alfred Beit Bridge , a road and rail bridge that spans the Limpopo river and now connects the states of South Africa and Zimbabwe, was built in 1929. The current bridge dates from 1995. The city is north of the river, about one kilometer from the bridge. She has after the census of 2012 42.137 inhabitants .

The main road leads from the border 321 kilometers northwest to Bulawayo and 281 kilometers northeast to Harare via Masvingo . The railway connection crossing the bridge leads from Gweru on the main Harare – Bulawayo line to Johannesburg in neighboring South Africa.
