Independent citizens' initiative Save Austria

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Independent Citizens' Initiative Rettet Österreich (RETTÖ) was an Austrian party that ran for the first time in the 2008 National Council election across Austria. The party was founded in the spring of 2008 by Karl Walter Nowak and is based on the independent citizens' initiative "Save Austria" - a society for the promotion of ecology, democracy, freedom and peace .

program

The list “Save Austria” names as central topics of your party the holding of a referendum on the EU reform treaty of Lisbon , a still existing ban on genetic engineering and the maintenance of neutrality .

In order to maintain neutrality, the RETTÖ demanded the withdrawal of the Austrian troops that were stationed within the framework of the European Union's mission in Chad as part of the EUFOR Tchad / RCA . She attributes this operation to the intention that the EU wants to take control of the oil reserves in Chad. Therefore, the expansion of Austria's energy self-sufficiency based on the example of Sweden is called for.

The RETTÖ justified the holding of a referendum on the EU reform treaty in Lisbon with the fact that the new treaty would dissolve Austrian neutrality and neutrality could only be dissolved with a referendum. However, some parliamentary parties contradict this, since Austria retains sovereignty in all assistance obligations and can thus decide itself on the type of aid.

According to RETTÖ, the current ban on the cultivation of genetically modified plants in Austria can no longer be maintained through the adoption of the EU reform treaty.

The party refuses to cooperate with the other parties.

The general reporting of the Kronen Zeitung is also consistently referred to in the other media as support for the party.
