The Samostalna demokratska srpska stranka , SDSS for short ( Cyrillic Самостална демократска српска странка , German Independent Serbian Democratic Party) is a political party in Croatia that represents the interests of the Serbs in Croatia .
history
The party was founded in 1997 in Eastern Slavonia , which was then under the administration of UNTAES , or on the former territory of the Republika Srpska Krajina . Most of the founding members were former members of the Serbian Democratic Party ( SDS for short ). Initially, the Independent Serbian Democratic Party limited itself to Slavonia. In other parts of Croatia they performed together with the Serbian People's Party. In the parliamentary elections in 2003 , the party won the three seats in the Croatian Parliament reserved for the Serbian ethnic minority and won the elections in some municipalities of Slavonia and Lika .
