Undine Gruenter

Undine Gruenter (born August 27, 1952 in Cologne , † October 5, 2002 in Paris ) was a German writer.

Life

Gruenter was the daughter of the writer Astrid Gehlhoff-Claes and the Germanist Rainer Gruenter . She spent the first year and a half of her life in an orphanage.

Undine Gruenter studied law, literature and philosophy at the universities of Heidelberg , Bonn and Wuppertal ; The rector of the latter university at the time was her father Rainer Gruenter. She was married to the literary scholar Karl Heinz Bohrer .

In 1986 she received the North Rhine-Westphalia Prize for Literature .

From 1987 she lived in Paris. Two months before she died of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in October 2002 , Undine Gruenter completed her last novel: The Locked Garden . Her estate is in the German Literature Archive in Marbach .
