The Hungarian timeless ( Colchicum hungaricum ) is a species of the genus of the timeless ( Colchicum ) in the family of the timeless plants (Colchicaceae).

The Hungarian Timeless is a perennial bulbous plant that reaches heights of 3 to 10 centimeters.

Most of the 2, rarely 3 leaves are ciliate at the edge. They are 3 to 10 centimeters long at flowering time, later they measure up to 20 × 1 to 2 centimeters.

There are 1 to 8 flowers . The perigone measure 20 to 30 × 6 to 7 millimeters. They are pale purple-pink to white in color. The anthers are black-purple. The flowering period extends from (December) February to March.

Occurrence

The Hungarian Timeless occurs in southwest Hungary and Dalmatia . It grows on rocky lawns at altitudes of 50 to 800 meters.

The variety Colchicum hungaricum var. Albiflorum Maly has white flowers.

The Hungarian Timeless is rarely used as an ornamental plant for rock gardens.
