The Union of Right Parties is an Israeli party alliance made up of the right-wing religious parties HaBajit haJehudi and Tkuma . The list was established in February 2019; Originally, it also belonged to the Otzma Jehudit party , which left the union of right-wing parties in June 2019. The chairman is Rafi Peretz . The electoral alliance represents the interests of the Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank and strictly rejects a Palestinian state.
history
In the Knesset elections in 2013 and 2015, the two national religious parties HaBajit haJehudi and Tkuma under their chairmen Naftali Bennett and Uri Ariel agreed that both parties would stand as an electoral alliance with a common list. For the election in April 2019 , the new chairmen of the two parties, Rafi Peretz and Bezalel Smotrich , agreed to come back on the same list. However, polls in February 2019 showed that HaBajit haJehudi and Tkuma might have a hard time crossing the 3.25 percent hurdle because of the new right-wing pro-settler party HaJamin HeChadasch , led by former chairman HaBajit haJehudi Naftali Bennett To exceed. Therefore, the two parties formed an electoral alliance with the far-right Otzma Jehudit party . Prime Minister Netanyahu , in particular , urged the parties to band together to ensure that his potential coalition partners succeed in entering parliament.
In the April 2019 election, the right-wing union won 3.70% of the vote and 5 seats in the Knesset. HaJamin HeChadasch, however, did not manage to enter the Knesset. Bezalel Smotrich was then appointed Minister of Transport and Rafi Peretz as Minister of Education.
Otzma Jehudit left the covenant in June 2019. The reasons given were a lack of appreciation and failure to comply with a rotation agreement that said representatives of the other two parties should resign from the Knesset if they were given ministerial posts so that Otzma politician Itamar Ben-Gvir can move into the Knesset as a member of the parliament.
On July 29, 2019, the Union of Right-wing Parties and HaJamin HeChadasch agreed to run together in the parliamentary elections in September 2019 . Ajelet Schaked headed the joint electoral list Jamina .
In the upcoming Knesset election in March 2020 , the Union of right-wing parties will again run together with HaJamin HeChadasch. The top candidate is Naftali Bennett .
