Universidad Bolivariana de Venezuela

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bolivarian University of Venezuela (Spanish: Universidad Bolivariana de Venezuela) abbreviated UBV, is the youngest state university in Venezuela . The UBV was founded in 2003 by the then Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez .

The UBV is part of the government-created social program "Misión Sucre", the aim of which is to enable the poorer parts of the population to have a higher education. The conditions of admission to the UBV are therefore not very restrictive. The only requirement is a graduation from middle school, which also takes place as part of the Misión Sucre.

Due to its origins in the Bolivarian Revolution, the UBV attaches particular importance to the social orientation of its educational offer and teaching staff. The UBV is not valued by the Venezuelan political opposition because of its political orientation and special academic conditions.
