The State University of Tetovo ( English State University of Tetovo ; Macedonian Државен универзитет во Тетово ; Albanian Universiteti Shtetëror i Tetovës ) was founded in 1994 by a group of initiators consisting of Albanian-speaking intellectuals from the Republic of North Macedonia , as well as members of political parties in and outside of the Republic of North Macedonia , as well as members of political parties from abroad Tetovo founded. The Macedonian government recognized the university as a state institution on February 13, 2004.

The university consists of 11 faculties which offer study programs for bachelor and master degrees. The languages of instruction are Albanian and Macedonian .

The first lectures were held on 16./17. Held February 1995 in Poroj and Recica.

The university education is carried out according to the most modern scientific methods and in accordance with the Bologna process. The aim of this institution is to take advantage of current trends in higher education and thereby become part of the family of European and world universities.

Studies at the faculties are carried out in accordance with the Bologna Declaration and ECTS . There are undergraduate and postgraduate courses . The doctoral program is in the process of accreditation (2010).

The university is a member of the network of Balkan universities .
